"Something Old, Something New"
Cherelle's return to solo work in 2026 marks a new chapter, with the release of the first singles from "Something Old, Something New". "Lay the Weapons Down" and “It’s a Beautiful Day,” both co-written with iconic Producer/Songwriter Colin Weinmaster. “Lay the Weapons Down" is a fearless protest rock anthem telling us it’s time to disarm our hate, move beyond division, and choose compassion over conflict and “It's a Beautiful Day” is bursting with joy, love and 60’s inspired vibes, a feel good anthem that lifts the heart and celebrates life’s magic.
Her upcoming album, "Something Old, Something New" will be released digitally on August 22nd 2026 - in celebration of the ISSA - International Singer Songwriters Association award show weekend. Cherelle has been nominated for 6 awards, 2 for "It's a Beautiful Day - single and video, Songwriter, Vocalist, Rising Star and Emerging Artist.
Besides the above mentioned songs, 2 covers will also be included - "San Francisco", recorded with Colin Weinmaster and mixed with Sheldon Zaharko and "Let's Spend the Night Together", recorded at BullFrog Studios back in the late 90's. The tracks sat on a 2" tape for decades and Sheldon had them baked. lifting the tracks from their prison. Al Harlow of Prism laid down some electric guitars and Colin wrote the horn arrangements. Cherelle re-sang the track and was elated that her dearly departed friend and local songstress Rachel Page's beautiful vocals were intact and accompany her along with Arlen Park.
Cherelle is busy in the studio working on some other surprises for the upcoming release. You can listen to "Beautiful Day", "Lay the Weapons Down", "Let's Spend the Night Together" and "San Francisco" from the link below. Just a little tease as to what is coming this summer!
